Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Full-Staff
This is to advise, per President Joseph R. Biden, that the United States Flag is to be raised to full-staff effective immediately. The flag had been flying at half-staff in honor of former Vice President Walter Mondale, who passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is to return to full-staff as well.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
This is to advise that the United States Flag is to remain lowered to half-staff until sunset, Thursday, April 29, 2021. This is in honor of former Vice President Walter Mondale, who passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021. Per federal law, the United States Flag shall be flown at half-staff 10 days from the death of a former Vice President. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is to remain lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Thursday, April 15, 2021, President Joseph R. Biden ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Tuesday, April 20, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
President Joseph R. Biden ordered the United States Flag to remain at half-staff in honor of Congressman Alcee Hastings. The United States Flag will now be returned to full-staff at sunset, Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Congressman Hastings passed away today, Tuesday, April 6, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag will remain lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.
This order changes the previous order to raise the flags to full-staff at sunset tonight. Instead, flags will return to full-staff tomorrow.

Biden ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Tuesday, April 6, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Biden ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Saturday, March 27, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Biden ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Monday, March 22, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag lowered to half-staff at sunrise, Friday, March 5, 2021 and returned to full-staff at sunset, Friday, March 5, 2021 for COVID-19 Day of Remembrance. This action is in memory of more than 500,000 Americans, including more than 7,700 Marylanders, who have lost their lives from COVID-19.
