Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of R. Clayton Mitchell, Jr., Former Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, who died Thursday, June 13, 2019.

President Donald Trump has ordered the United States Flag be flown at half-staff effective immediately until sunset, Tuesday, June 4, 2019. This is done as a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence perpetrated on May 31, 2019 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

This day honors Fallen Heroes who have lost their lives in service to our State during the last year.

The United States Flag and Maryland State Flag shall be raised to full staff at sunset, today, April 30, 2019. The flags were lowered in honor of Officer Kyle Olinger, of the Montgomery County Police Department, who passed away on April 18, 2019 as a result of injuries sustained while in the line of duty.

Flag Status Alert: Lowering of the U.S. and Maryland State Flag
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the U.S. Flag and Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Officer Kyle Olinger, of the Montgomery County Police Department, who died on April 18, 2019 as a result of injuries sustained while in the line of duty 15 years ago.

Correction: Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag is at Half-Staff
This notice is sent to correct a previously issued notification. The day of interment for Staff Sgt. Dinora Flores of the Maryland National Guard is Thursday, April 18, 2019. Staff Sgt. Flores passed away on April 2, 2019.
The Maryland State Flag shall continue to fly at half-staff. The Maryland State Flag shall be raised to full staff at sunset, Thursday, April 18, 2019.
